My name is Correen Hardin, though online I write and share as Corelyse. I’m a wife, mother, millennial, and ExJW (former Jehovah’s Witness). Like many, I carry the weight of childhood trauma and religious conditioning.
I write to heal, and to help others do the same. My poetry and posts explore life after faith, motherhood after control, and the deep work of reclaiming worth and learning to love yourself after conditional love. I believe in telling the truth that once had to stay hidden to protect those who unapologetically caused harm. One post, one poem, one breath at a time.
I’m the self-published author of Best Life After, a personal memoir and collection of poems that trace the roots of Jehovah’s Witnesses in my lineage, childhood pain that made high-control religion palatable, and the emotional unraveling in my first year deconstructing from the high-control faith.
